Abstract
The program was launched in 2011 through a cooperative agreement between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and ACDI/VOCA. The agreement was modified several times to update the program description, incrementally fund the award, and incorporate new provisions. ACIP focuses on addressing the urgent needs of ethnic minority populations in Colombia, who are among the most marginalized groups in the country. The program's primary objective is to create an ethnic delegation that will include the ethnic perspective in the peace accords. This delegation will play a crucial role in ensuring that the rights and interests of Afro-Colombian and indigenous persons are represented in the peace process. The program's approach is centered on building the capacity of ethnic organizations and communities to participate in the peace process. ACIP works closely with local partners, including community-based organizations, civil society organizations, and government institutions, to develop and implement programs that address the specific needs of Afro-Colombian and indigenous communities. One of the key achievements of ACIP is the consolidation of proposals for an ethnic delegation that will represent the interests of Afro-Colombian and indigenous persons in the peace accords. This delegation will be instrumental in ensuring that the rights and interests of these communities are protected and promoted in the peace process. ACIP's work is guided by a strong commitment to the principles of free prior and informed consultation (FPIC), which is a fundamental right of indigenous peoples. The program works closely with local communities to ensure that their rights and interests are respected and protected throughout the peace process. The program's progress is closely monitored and evaluated through a robust monitoring and evaluation system. This system ensures that the program's activities are aligned with its objectives and that the desired outcomes are achieved. The program's financial information is also closely monitored to ensure that resources are used efficiently and effectively. Overall, ACIP is a critical initiative that aims to improve the lives of Afro-Colombian and indigenous persons in Colombia. The program's focus on building the capacity of ethnic organizations and communities to participate in the peace process is a key aspect of its approach. By working closely with local partners and ensuring that the rights and interests of Afro-Colombian and indigenous persons are respected and protected, ACIP is making a significant contribution to the peace process in Colombia.
