Abstract
The subproject will have three activities: (1) to conduct research on the use of sewage, sludge, and other organic wastes such as cow manure to increase fish pond production while minimizing associated health risks); (2) to assess the contamination of seafood and feeds by chemical toxins; and (3) to examine the environmental conditions governing fish production in lakes and establish an experimental fish farm. The project will be implemented through a Cooperative Agreement with the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium. Amendment of 7/26/88 extends the subproject to 1992 and adds research on: shoreline planning, mullet culture, circulation in the Eastern Levantine Basin; and nutrition in brackishwater fish.
