Abstract
This decision was made by the Consejo Directivo of the Corporación Autónoma Regional del Atlántico (CRA) in accordance with the Ley 99 de 1993 and the Decreto 2372 de 2010, which regulate the management and protection of natural resources in Colombia. The RFP El Palomar is a protected area that encompasses a region of high ecological potential, including 11 species of plants that are considered endangered in Colombia. The area is also home to a variety of reptiles, including tortoises. The CRA has identified this area as a priority for conservation due to its high biodiversity and the potential for sustainable development. The establishment of the RFP El Palomar is part of a broader effort to protect and conserve the natural resources of the department of Atlántico. The CRA has a plan of action that includes the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, as well as the promotion of sustainable development. The RFP El Palomar is a key component of this plan, and its establishment is expected to contribute to the conservation of the region's natural resources and the promotion of sustainable development. The CRA has worked with The Nature Conservancy (TNC) to establish the RFP El Palomar, and the two organizations have signed a convenio (agreement) to this effect. The convenio includes a plan of management for the area, which includes the conservation of the region's biodiversity and the promotion of sustainable development. The establishment of the RFP El Palomar is a significant step forward in the conservation efforts in the department of Atlántico. It demonstrates the CRA's commitment to protecting and conserving the natural resources of the region, and it is expected to contribute to the promotion of sustainable development and the conservation of biodiversity. The CRA has delegated the authority to manage the RFP El Palomar to the Secretaria General, as well as to the Directores Técnico y Operativo. This delegation includes the power to order the expenditure of funds and to sign contracts, as well as to manage the area and make decisions related to its conservation and use. The establishment of the RFP El Palomar is also in line with the objectives of the Convenio sobre Diversidad Biológica (Convention on Biological Diversity), which aims to conserve biodiversity, promote the sustainable use of natural resources, and ensure the equitable sharing of benefits derived from the use of genetic resources. The RFP El Palomar is a key component of the CRA's efforts to implement this convention and to promote the conservation of biodiversity in the department of Atlántico.
