AID cooperative agreement no. 521-0182-A-00-5037-00 non-governmental support III with Societe Haitienne d"Etude et d"Execution des Projets Agricoles for a program of fruit tree improvement and distribution of improved fruit tree seedlings to peasant farmers in the Central Plateau region of Haiti

The Societe Haitenne d"Etude et d"Execution des Projets Agricoles (SHEEPA) will: (1) renovate the central nursery facilities at Hinche, including the replacement of shade structures and the enlargement of the irrigation/spray system; (2) produce 75,000 grafted fruit trees (52,500 citrus, 11,250 mango, 7,500 avocado, 3,750 other) and distribute them (@$0.20 per plant) to an estimated 1,500 farmers who own less than 5 carreaux of land; (3) train 2 nursery managers and 12 extension agents in grafting and fruit management; and (4) carry out site- specific research.
