Grant is provided under the Matching Grants to PVOs project (9380158) to Heifer Project International (HPI) to strengthen its capacity to transfer livestock farming technology to small farmers in East Africa.

Abstract
HPI plans to: (1) provide training to its staff in project design, implementation, and monitoring; (2) strengthen its institutional capacity to provide training, educational materials, and extension follow-up to farmers and to involve government and private agencies in the provision of these services; (3) systematically transfer livestock technology to farmers and extensionists; and (4) provide livestock, veterinary services, and supplies to selected farmers. Under the grant, HPI will conduct projects in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda; other countries may be approved as well.
