Grant is provided under the PVO Co-Financing II Project (4970336) to Yayasan Kristen Untuk Kesehatan Umum (YAKKUM) to support the local development institution, Pembangunan Kesehatan Masyarakat Desa (PKMD) by training kaders (volunteer workers) in nine villages in Indonesia to help implement integrated nutritional and environmental interventions.

Abstract
Kaders will be trained in such areas as leadership; community organization; communication; community development; community self-survey, monitoring, and evaluation; primary health care; mixed farming; and cooperative activities. A demonstration plot will be established and used by the kaders to educate families about mixed farming as an income generating and nutrition enhancing activity. The kaders will also organize families into cooperatives, which will be eligible for small loans. Environmental activities will include improvements in sanitation, dwelling ventilation, and community health and nutrition services.
