Sign inUSAID. MISSION TO BOLIVIA
Project, follow-on to 5110601, to strengthen the service delivery capacity and institutional viability of Programa de Coordinacion en Supervivencia (PROCOSI), a network of U.S.-based and Bolivian PVO"s carrying out child survival activities in Bolivia.
1991

Abstract
Under the service delivery component, PROCOSI will expand its membership from the current 10 member PVO"s to 16 associate members and 16 sponsored affiliate members. Each member will receive subgrants and TA, but the latter group of PVO"s will have fewer responsibilities in the network. PROCOSI will provide member PVO"s with subgrants for child survival service delivery, educational, and applied research projects; a total of 98 projects (vs. 18 under 5110601) are planned. PROCOSI will also provide staffs of member PVO"s with TA and training in the areas of organizational development, applied nutrition, maternal health, health information systems, health education, and training of trainer methodologies, as well as assistance in the areas of bibliographic materials, project monitoring and evaluation, analysis and special assessments, and educational materials production. In addition, PROCOSI will: (1) develop mechanisms to assure communication and coordination among itself, member PVO"s, and other public, private, and international agencies; (2) support collaborative projects among PVO"s, as well as joint endeavors with the Ministry of Health, especially those aimed at standardizing norms, technical protocols, and support systems; and (3) expand its resource center for collecting reference materials, documenting PVO experiences, and disseminating information. To establish itself as a sustainable organization for maintaining the above services, PROCOSI will endeavor to: (1) acquire legal and operational status; (2) demonstrate a continuing demand for its services, as well as its own ability to provide them; (3) establish a diversified base of financial and other resources; and (4) achieve an efficient internal organization and management.
