USAID. MISSION TO BOLIVIA
OPG to Save the Children Federation (SCF) to develop a child survival PVO network in rural Bolivia, and improve collaboration between PVO"s and the Ministry of Health (MOH).
1988

Abstract
A.I.D. funds will be used to provide subgrants to national and international PVO"s for approximately 20 community-based subprojects in such areas as immunization, diarrheal disease control, growth monitoring, birth spacing, acute respiratory infection, and maternal/child health. The project will also finance TA for participating PVO"s in the technical and managerial aspects of child survival programs. Eligible subgrantees will be those registered with A.I.D. or who become part of a proposal submitted by a registered PVO. The project will be implemented through the existing PVO Rotating Executive Committee in Bolivia, and all proposals will be reviewed by a panel which includes members of the SCF, USAID/B, and the MOH. Amendment of 8/14/90 increases funding by $100,000 to add a Vitamin A component to the project. The component will provide subgrants to PVO"s for Vitamin A projects and promote Vitamin A interventions by producing educational materials and mass media messages, and conducting workshops. Vitamin A research may also be conducted in conjunction with PVO"s and the MOH. (PD-ABB-673)
