Abstract
CHAK has entered into a partnership with a group of U.S. pathologists who will volunteer their services without salary in the CHAK laboratory, which by the end of the project will be processing up to 684 tissue specimens a month, at a reasonable fee, with a turnaround time of 7-10 days (vs. existing services which can take up to 6 months and are prohibitively expensive). A Kenyan pathologist will be hired and trained by the U.S. pathologists. In addition, cytological services will be established in 20 CHAK and non-church hospitals, and 30 hospital laboratories will be upgraded through staff training, supervision, and proper maintenance of equipment.
