Grant is provided under the Human Rights Initiatives Project to the Woodstock Theological Center at Georgetown University to sponsor a series of studies, conferences, and publications aimed at (1) developing a normative theory of human rights which takes into account the different cultural traditions of North and South America, and (2) suggesting new action strategies for promoting the full range of personal, economic, and social rights in the Americas.

Abstract
The Woodstock Center will work with the Washington D.C.-based Center for Concern, Centros de Investigacion y Accion Social, Centros de Reflexion Teologica, and other Church- and university-sponsored centers to review the dominant Latin American perspectives on human rights, current political and economic structures, and the differences and similarities between Anglo-American and Latin-American approaches to human rights.
