Abstract
IIHSCS will conduct a conference on human rights in 5/91 in Siracusa, Italy, for 52 participants from the mass media sectors in Egypt, Jordan, Yemen Arab Republic, Tunisia, Morocco, The Sudan, Lebanon, Oman, and the occupied territories of the West Bank and Gaza. Participants will be from all media sectors -- television, radio, and print -- and will include opposition press, women, and minority representatives. The conference will place specific emphasis on: protection against arbitrary arrest, detention, and discrimination; prevention of torture; freedom of expression and of the press; and women"s rights.
