Grant is provided under the Partnerships in Health Care Initiatives Project in Eastern Europe to Medical Service Corporation International (MSCI) in support of a program to improve the treatment of children with traumatic injuries in Bulgaria.

Abstract
MSCI will work with Children"s Hospital of Philadelphia, the Medical Academy of Bulgaria, and three leading medical institutions in Sofia in implementing the program. Staff from the Children"s Hospital of Philadelphia will assist Bulgarian colleagues from the Institute of Pediatrics, the N.I. Pirogov Emergency Medical Institute, and the Center for Emergency Aid to formulate treatment protocols for children with trauma. Staff exchanges will be instituted between Philadelphia and Sofia, along with a continuing medical education program. Protocols developed under this project will be disseminated to the wider medical community in Bulgaria, and the program of continuing medical education will be expanded to other Bulgarian hospitals. Staff from MSCI"s Eastern European Medical Management Center will assist in implementation.
