Grant is provided under the FVA Program Development and Evaluation Project to the Agri-Energy Roundtable (AER) to support AER"s program to establish AER chapters in five developing countries -- Costa Rica, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Kenya, and Uganda.

Abstract
The program"s complementary objectives are to develop indigenous private sector institutions and to promote increased agricultural trade between developing countries and the United States. The local AER chapters will promote: (1) private enterprise involvement in rural associations and cooperatives; (2) consensus building on policy issues; and (3) other activities, including short-term training and information exchanges on, e.g., marketing, technology, approaches to disease control, and agricultural product handling.
