AID grant no. PDC-0086-G-SS-7180-00 to the International Foundation for Electoral Systems to provide assistance for a program of monitoring, supporting and strengthening the mechanics of the election process in developing countries

To this end, IFES will develop its capabilities in five major areas: election observation, election TA, election statistical analysis, election problem analysis, and information transfer. A major focus will be to expand and improve IFES" Election Assistance database for the Latin American/Caribbean region, extending it to other parts of the world. This database, developed in collaboration with the Inter-American Institute for Human Rights in Central America (CAPEL), contains country-level information on election law, registries, procedures, equipment and materials, security, vote counting and reporting, and attainment (or not) of a free and fair voting environment.
