Abstract
The trip aimed to participate in a regional meeting on HIV, Men Who Have Sex with Men, and Transgender People in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The meeting took place in Kiev, Ukraine, and the purpose was to review a package of prevention, care, and support services for MSM in the Eastern Europe region. The regional package of services was presented at the regional consultation and review committee meeting. Country-level and regional review and recommendations for the package of services were discussed during the working sessions. The package of services was divided into three components, and discussions were held to build regional consensus on key advocacy and implementation strategies. The next steps for completing the work from the trip included collecting regional best practices using an algorithm, developing a regional package of services, and finalizing the package of services. The team of regional consultants and the Alliance consultancy team were responsible for these tasks, with deadlines set for December 20, 2010, and January 20, 2011, respectively. During the trip, the traveler met with various contacts, including Oleg Eremin from NGO "Vstrecha," Roman Dudnik from AIDS Foundation East-West, and Yuri Sarankov from AIDS Foundation East-West. The traveler also met with representatives from the International Alliance HIV/AIDS, NGO "Phoenix," and other organizations. The relevant documents included the MSM AIDSTAR results and package presentation, the draft concept of service packages of prevention, care, and support services for MSM in Eastern Europe, and the manual "Social work with people, practicing unisexual sexual relations." The documents were located in the eRooms or MSH network. The AIDSTAR-Two Project Trip Report is a confidential document intended for use by AIDSTAR-Two staff only.
