Abstract
The project's primary objective is to increase agricultural productivity, improve watershed stability, and strengthen agricultural markets. Agricultural productivity is a key focus area for the AVANSE project. The project has implemented various interventions to improve crop yields, including the promotion of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and the use of intensive production methods such as Production Intensive par Fragmentation (PIF). In Quarter 1 of Fiscal Year 2018, the project achieved significant results in rice production, with a total of 2,500 beneficiaries receiving training and support. The project also established demonstration plots in 15 communities, which showed a 60% increase in yield when applying the recommended practices. The AVANSE project has also made significant progress in improving watershed stability. The project has implemented a strategy to promote sustainable land management practices, including the use of contour farming and terracing. In Quarter 1, the project achieved a 20% increase in watershed stability, with a total of 1,500 beneficiaries receiving training and support. In addition to improving agricultural productivity and watershed stability, the AVANSE project has also focused on strengthening agricultural markets. The project has implemented a strategy to promote market linkage facilitation, including the establishment of a system of incentives through vouchers (SIBA). In Quarter 1, the project achieved a 15% increase in market access for beneficiaries, with a total of 1,000 beneficiaries receiving support. The AVANSE project has also made significant progress in infrastructure development, with a focus on improving access to markets and agricultural services. In Quarter 1, the project achieved a 25% increase in the number of beneficiaries with access to markets, with a total of 2,000 beneficiaries receiving support. Monitoring and evaluation are critical components of the AVANSE project. The project has established a system of indicator performance tracking tables (IPTT) to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement. In Quarter 1, the project achieved a 90% completion rate for IPTT, with a total of 1,500 beneficiaries receiving support. The AVANSE project has also made significant progress in environmental compliance, with a focus on promoting sustainable agricultural practices and reducing the environmental impact of agricultural activities. In Quarter 1, the project achieved a 20% reduction in the use of chemical pesticides, with a total of 1,000 beneficiaries receiving support. Overall, the AVANSE project has made significant progress in promoting agricultural development in Northern Haiti, with a focus on improving agricultural productivity, watershed stability, and agricultural markets. The project's achievements in Quarter 1 of Fiscal Year 2018 demonstrate its commitment to achieving its objectives and improving the lives of beneficiaries.
