Abstract
The project focuses on preventing social exclusion, violent extremism, radicalization, marginalization, recruitment, and conflict through various activities. A key aspect of the project is working with youth to develop and empower them as informed and engaged citizens in their communities. A survey was conducted with 115 youth aged 14-19 from Bulqizë, with a majority of respondents being 16 years old (38.3%) and 17 years old (36.5%). The survey aimed to assess the influence of various factors on the opinions and behaviors of youth, including media, family, school, and community. The survey found that family has the most significant influence on the opinions and behaviors of youth, with 95% of respondents stating that family opinions have a lot of importance. School is the second most influential factor, with 66% of respondents considering the opinions of teachers to be very important. Friends and peers also have a significant influence, with 25% of respondents stating that their opinions have a lot of importance. The survey also identified several key issues that youth consider important and require solutions in the next five years. These issues can be grouped into three categories: youth-related issues, community-related issues, and issues related to national development and progress. Youth-related issues include bullying and violence, racism and discrimination, and access to education and employment opportunities. Community-related issues include poverty, unemployment, and lack of access to healthcare and social services. Issues related to national development and progress include corruption, lack of transparency, and inadequate infrastructure. The survey highlights the importance of addressing these issues to empower youth and promote their development and engagement in their communities. The findings of the survey will inform the development of a positive campaign and youth activities aimed at promoting youth empowerment and engagement in Bulqizë and other partner municipalities. The survey also found that youth in Bulqizë are exposed to various forms of media, including social media, television, and the internet. However, the survey did not provide detailed information on the impact of media on youth opinions and behaviors. Overall, the survey provides valuable insights into the opinions and behaviors of youth in Bulqizë and highlights the importance of addressing key issues to promote their development and engagement in their communities. The findings of the survey will inform the development of effective strategies and programs to support youth empowerment and engagement in Albania.
