Abstract
The design of the plantations is a crucial aspect of this process. The design of the plantation allows farmers to define the layout of the plants, the number of cacao, forest species, and guava plants required per hectare, and the spacing between them. A croquis, or sketch, of the plantation is created with the help of family members. This sketch serves as a guide for the actual layout of the plantation. The design of the plantation involves several key considerations, including the type of terrain, the resources available, and the type of trees or plants that can be combined with cacao. Farmers must also consider the growth habits of the selected species and the management requirements for each. The use of the land before the cacao cultivation is also an important factor. Two design options are presented for the plantation: Design 1, which involves cacao with forest species in two rows, double or lateral rows, and Design 2, which involves cacao with forest species in a contour or border. The design of the plantation is a critical step in the process of establishing a cacao plantation. Design 1, cacao with forest species in two rows, double or lateral rows, involves installing 1,111 plantons with a spacing of 3 meters by 3 meters in a square or 1,283 plantons in Tresbolillos. Each tree or forest species must be installed at the distances indicated in the graph. This design allows for a high density of cacao plants, which can lead to increased yields. The design of the plantation is a critical step in the process of establishing a cacao plantation. By carefully considering the type of terrain, the resources available, and the type of trees or plants that can be combined with cacao, farmers can create a productive and sustainable plantation.
