Abstract
The program consists of four main skills: Letter Names, Sounds, Syllables, and Words. To assess these skills, learners are asked to read aloud all 10 items in each category. If a learner reads at least 7 out of 10 items correctly, they are considered to have acquired that skill. The program also includes a sentence reading skill, which is assessed by asking learners to read all 5 sentences. If a learner reads at least 3 out of 5 sentences correctly, they are considered to have acquired the sentence reading skill. Additionally, the program evaluates story reading skills by asking learners to read a story fully, pausing at the full stops. If a learner reads the story without making more than 2 mistakes, they are considered to have acquired the story reading skill. To further evaluate comprehension, learners who have acquired the story reading skill are asked three comprehension questions orally, one by one. If a learner answers at least 2 out of 3 questions correctly, they are considered to have acquired the story comprehension skill. The program's assessment criteria provide a clear framework for evaluating the reading skills of Chichewa language learners. The Chichewa language learning program is designed to be a comprehensive tool for assessing and evaluating the reading skills of learners. By using a clear and structured approach, the program provides a reliable method for determining whether learners have acquired specific reading skills. The program's assessment criteria are based on the learner's ability to read and comprehend Chichewa language texts. The program's evaluation process is designed to be straightforward and easy to understand. By asking learners to read aloud and answer comprehension questions, the program provides a clear and objective measure of their reading skills. The program's assessment criteria are based on the learner's ability to demonstrate their understanding of the Chichewa language, and provide a reliable method for determining whether learners have acquired specific reading skills. The Chichewa language learning program is an essential tool for evaluating the reading skills of learners.
