Abstract
The project aims to support USAID missions and bureaus in mainstreaming climate change adaptation, coordinate with other US government agencies, and identify and respond to emerging issues. Project management and implementation activities were undertaken and/or completed during the quarterly reporting period, January 2012 – March 2012. The CCRD Year One Work Plan Revised Draft outlines the project's objectives and tasks, including project management, planning, and evaluation, as well as three objectives: supporting USAID missions and bureaus, coordinating with other US government agencies, and identifying and responding to emerging issues. Objective 1: Support for USAID Missions and Bureaus The project team revised the Vulnerability and Adaptation Manual, developed climate briefs and annexes, and prepared case studies to demonstrate the mainstreaming guidance. The team also supported the development of USAID's Federal Agency Climate Change Adaptation Plan. Objective 2: Coordinate with Other USG Agencies to Support Mainstreaming The project team conducted adaptation partnership workshops, facilitated adaptation partnership communities of practice, and developed adaptation partnership materials. The team also operated the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Adaptation Learning Mechanism website. Objective 3: Identify and Respond to Emerging Issues and Fill Gaps The project team supported the preparation of national adaptation plans, designed a High Mountain Glacial Watershed Program, and developed the program's community of practice. The team also designed and conducted the Climber-Scientist Competitive Solicitation and compiled and disseminated current climate services knowledge. The project team made significant progress during the quarterly reporting period, with updates on activities and tasks described in the CCRD Year One Work Plan Revised Draft. The report includes a CD-ROM with all reports and documents prepared for this task order during the reporting period. The CCRD task order is a critical component of the Water II IQC, which aims to support climate change resilient development in various countries. The project's objectives and tasks are aligned with the USAID's climate change adaptation strategy, and the project team's progress is essential to achieving the desired outcomes. The project's geographic focus is on various countries, with a specific emphasis on supporting USAID missions and bureaus in mainstreaming climate change adaptation. The project's timeframes are outlined in the CCRD Year One Work Plan Revised Draft, which provides a detailed roadmap for the project's implementation. The project's recommendations are based on the project team's analysis of the project's progress and the lessons learned from the quarterly reporting period. The recommendations aim to inform the project's future direction and ensure that the project remains aligned with the USAID's climate change adaptation strategy.
