The community asset mapping (CAM) assessment in Ghor Al Mazra'a, Karak Governorate, was conducted in 2019 by the USAID YouthPower MEL team.

Abstract
The assessment used a three-fold strategy, including an institutional mapping tool, a community mapping tool, and a focus group discussion with youth. The process was guided by youth to enhance their agency, self-efficacy, and initiative programming. The institutional mapping survey identified 30 institutions in Ghor Al Mazra'a, with 87% being governmental institutions. The survey also found that 48% of the participants were males, and 52% were females, with an age range of 13-81 years, and 52% of the sample were under 29 years old. The community mapping survey found that 99% of the participants were Jordanian, with 0.5% being Palestinian and 0.5% being of other nationalities. The survey also found that the youth outlets with the greatest need for improvement were the library, organized activities, and entertainment. The focus group discussion with youth highlighted the need for a library that is a space for the community to sit down and read, as well as rent out books. The youth also noted the need for printing services, spaces for entertainment, and incorporating solar panels to public spaces. They also mentioned that the parks available are small, do not have enough benches, are not family-friendly, and do not have any bathrooms. The survey also found that out of school services that are least accessible or do not exist include access to computers in the computer center, internet knowledge station, computer center, computer courses, and business resources. The youth feedback highlighted the critical need for computers in the community and the need for effective computer courses. The assessment also found that the least used methods of mentorship and guidance in the community include community radio, mentorship, NGO/CBO guidance/counselling, and girl scouts. The survey also found that the least used form of assistance to assist the process of entering the workforce includes job training, career guidance, and entrepreneurship training. The results of the community asset mapping assessment in Ghor Al Mazra'a provide valuable insights into the needs and challenges of the youth in the community. The assessment highlights the need for improved youth outlets, out of school services, mentorship and guidance, and assistance to enter the workforce. The findings of the assessment can be used to inform programming and interventions to address the needs of the youth in Ghor Al Mazra'a. The assessment also highlights the importance of involving youth in the planning and implementation of programs and services that affect them. The focus group discussion with youth provided valuable insights into their needs and priorities, and highlighted the need for programs and services that are tailored to their needs. Overall, the community asset mapping assessment in Ghor Al Mazra'a provides a comprehensive understanding of the needs and challenges of the youth in the community. The findings of the assessment can be used to inform programming and interventions to address the needs of the youth in Ghor Al Mazra'a and to improve the overall well-being of the community. The assessment also highlights the importance of collaboration and partnership between different stakeholders, including government institutions, NGOs, and community-based organizations.
