Abstract
The report aims to identify the community's needs and barriers, as well as the services and resources available to the youth. The assessment is guided by youth and is designed to enhance their agency, self-efficacy, and initiative programming. The report is based on data collected through two types of surveys: institutional mapping and community mapping. The institutional mapping survey was used to identify stakeholders and their services, while the community mapping survey aimed to capture the community's needs and barriers. The surveys were conducted in-person by 15 trained youth from Shoonah Janoobiyah, who were split into groups to cover different sections of the community. The report highlights several key findings related to youth development, educational environment, health, social environment, inclusion, and community services. In terms of youth development, the report notes that the community lacks opportunities for youth to engage in entertainment, education, and organized activities. The report also highlights the need for out-of-school learning services, such as knowledge stations, computer training, and English skills. The educational environment in Shoonah Janoobiyah is also a concern, with participants citing issues such as lack of equipment, private lessons, hygiene, mentorship, extracurricular activities, space, and teacher experience. Safety-related issues, such as bullying and physical abuse, are also prevalent in the community. In terms of health, the report notes that awareness on diseases and nutrition are the most important health-related topics for the youth. The report also highlights the need for healthcare services and equipment, as well as health-related topics such as mental health and substance abuse. The report provides a comprehensive overview of the community's needs and barriers, as well as the services and resources available to the youth.
