Abstract
The project aims to improve Palestinians' access to basic infrastructure and services by rehabilitating and constructing roads, water, and wastewater projects. The objective of this Task Order is to build upon the 28 km of phase I Trunk Sewers implemented by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and expand the collection system through the construction of the Phase 1A Branch Sewers. The project involves the construction of approximately 12.5 km of 8" diameter uPVC main sewers, 468 precast reinforced concrete manholes, 2.0 km of 6" service laterals, 585 connection pits, and 0.81 km of paved roads. The project also includes the procurement of one combination Jet Vacuum Sewer Maintenance Truck. The project is located in Jericho Governorate in Area A, and the estimated completion date is October 2, 2015. Safety is a critical aspect of the project, and the contractor, The Morganti Group Inc., has implemented various safety measures to ensure the well-being of workers and the public. The traffic plan was divided into three cases, and special safety and traffic plans were submitted to the Construction Management Contractor (CMC) for acceptance prior to start excavation for each alignment on a daily basis. The contractor also conducted safety meetings with CMC and USAID during site periodic visits and conducted two tool box meetings with all staff to discuss safety procedures. As of May 2015, the contract elapsed time is 206 days, which is 62.0% of the total contract period. The planned percentage of completion through May 2015 is 42.16%, while the actual percentage of completion is 66.81%. The total float is 41 days. The project is ahead of schedule, and the contractor is working to complete the remaining tasks within the contractual period of performance. The project has made significant progress, with the construction of approximately 8.5 km of main sewers, 250 precast reinforced concrete manholes, and 1.2 km of service laterals. The contractor has also completed the procurement of the combination Jet Vacuum Sewer Maintenance Truck. However, the project still faces challenges, including the need to complete the remaining tasks within the contractual period of performance and to address any obstacles and challenges that may arise during the construction process. The project's progress is monitored through various indicators, including the actual percentage of completion, the total float, and the number of working and non-working days. The contractor also submits regular reports to CMC and USAID, which include information on the project's progress, safety measures, and any challenges or obstacles that may have arisen during the construction process.
