Abstract
The project aims to improve Palestinians' access to basic infrastructure and services by rehabilitating and constructing roads, water, and wastewater projects. The USAID objective is to help the Palestinian economy by improving access to basic infrastructure and services. The project involves the construction of approximately 12.5 km of branch sewers into high-density priority locations within the City of Jericho. The new branch sewers will connect to existing Phase I trunk sewers. Key project elements include the construction of approximately 12.5 km of 8" diameter uPVC main sewers, 468 precast reinforced concrete manholes, 2.0 km of 6" service laterals, 585 connection pits, and 0.81 km of paved roads. Additionally, approximately 14,100 square meters of trench restoration will be carried out, and one combination Jet Vacuum Sewer Maintenance Truck will be procured. The project's safety plan was divided into three cases, taking into account the special nature of Jericho City and the nature of the Task Order. The traffic plan was officially accepted from Jericho Municipality, local Police, and the Construction Management Contractor (CMC). Special safety measures were taken into consideration during the daytime due to the high temperatures and hot weather in Jericho. Drinking water was distributed to the workers, and umbrellas were distributed to the flagmen. Safety issues were discussed during periodic meetings with CMC and USAID, and the CMC Safety Engineer visited the construction site several times during the reporting period. No Tool box meetings were conducted due to the absence of the safety and environmental officer from site during the reporting period. No accidents were reported during this reporting period, and no Notices of Unsafe Condition (NUCs) were issued. The project's progress is on track, with a contractual period of performance of 330 calendar days. The estimated completion date is November 08, 2015, and the contractual end date is October 02, 2015. The actual and planned percentages of completion are 93.50% and 93.85%, respectively, as of October 31, 2015. The float (days) is 0 days, indicating that the project is on schedule. The project's scope of work includes the construction of branch sewers, manholes, service laterals, connection pits, and paved roads. The project's safety plan was accepted by CMC and USAID, and special safety measures were taken into consideration during the daytime. The project's progress is on track, with no accidents reported during this reporting period.
