Abstract
The MEC's mission is to guarantee education as a public good and human right, while its vision is to provide integral education of quality based on ethical and democratic values, promoting participation, inclusion, and interculturalism for the development of individuals and society. According to the Plan Nacional de Desarrollo 2030, the MEC faces significant challenges in terms of education coverage and quality. The country's education system has deficits in coverage and quality, particularly in pre-school, basic, and secondary education. There are also problems of repetition in the first and second cycles of basic education. Despite progress in increasing access to the first and second cycles of basic education, the coverage remains low, and there are significant disparities between men and women. The efficiency of the education system is also compromised, with only 50 out of 100 students who enter basic education graduating, and only 35 out of 100 students who enter the first grade of secondary education graduating. The MEC is included in two strategic axes of the Plan Nacional de Desarrollo and two strategies: Reducción de Pobreza y Desarrollo Social (Reduction of Poverty and Social Development) and Crecimiento Económico Inclusivo (Inclusive Economic Growth). The MEC's goals include improving the coverage and quality of education at all levels, as well as promoting early childhood development, basic and secondary education of quality for all, and other related objectives. The MEC's inclusion in these strategic axes and strategies highlights the importance of education in achieving the country's development goals, particularly in reducing poverty and promoting inclusive economic growth. The MEC's efforts to address the challenges facing the education system are crucial to ensuring that all individuals have access to quality education and can participate in the country's development. The MEC's diagnosis of the education system's challenges and its inclusion in the country's development strategies demonstrate the importance of education in achieving the country's development goals. The MEC's efforts to address these challenges are crucial to ensuring that all individuals have access to quality education and can participate in the country's development. The MEC's goals and objectives are aligned with the country's development goals, particularly in reducing poverty and promoting inclusive economic growth.
