Abstract
Perception is reality, and if people do not trust the institution, it can lead to its downfall. Building a positive public image is essential for organizations, especially those that spend taxpayers' money. Courts, being institutions of public character, must be concerned about their image and invest in developing a positive reputation for their work, thus building public trust and confidence. Courts should be proactive in informing the public about their work and issues. Silence in the face of media inquiries can lead to inaccurate portrayals of the judiciary. Public information officers in the courts should step up and keep the public informed on the court's work, as well as the challenges they face in providing timely and fair justice. This can be achieved through various public relations tools, including press releases. A press release is a simple tool used to convey new and important information to the media. It is an official written statement that is sent to the media to be publicized. A press release is neither an announcement nor a letter; it is an article written in third person that seeks to demonstrate the newsworthiness of a particular person, event, service, or product. The purpose of a press release is to capture the attention of the audience and set the tone for the rest of the article. A well-written press release should have a clear structure, including a title, date, lead, body, and supporting information. The title should be creative and provide a summary of the article. The lead should capture the attention of the audience and include the who, when, what, where, and why of the story. The body should provide explanations, quotes, statistics, history, or other relevant details. Supporting information should include details about the court, whom to contact for more information, and any relevant photos. When writing a press release, it is essential to determine the focus or angle of the story, use facts, remain objective, and use common, understandable language. The first ten words should be effective, and the press release should be concise, using short sentences and avoiding technical or "strange" language. The timing of the press release is also crucial, as it should be sent when the topic is hot, not weeks after. The distribution of the press release is also important, as it should be sent to the right media and journalist that covers judiciary-related topics. After sending the press release, it is essential to follow up and check if it reached the journalist, showing interest and developing relationships for mutual benefit. A sample of a press release is provided, which includes a title, date, lead, body, and supporting information. The press release is about the increased public users' satisfaction in the Basic Court Q, with 70 percent of the court users thinking that the court works effectively. The survey was conducted periodically and aims to assess court users' opinion on the court's performance, as well as to give directions for improving the quality of the services.
