USAID. MISSION TO JORDAN
Project, follow-on to projects 2780146/0214/0257, to provide technical, managerial, and administrative training to mid- and upper-level managers in Jordan"s public and private sector institutions.
1986
Abstract
The Jordanian Ministry of Planning will implement the project. Three levels of training will be provided. Both short-term training and long-term academic training will be provided in the U.S., the latter to increase the exposure of potential key individuals to U.S. training and institutional systems. The project will also support participants attending high-level professional seminars offered in third countries, and will fund consultants to design and conduct specialized short courses in Jordan. Unlike its predecessors, the project will include an emphasis on women and a set-aside for private sector trainees. Approximately 50% of the training costs for private sector trainees will be borne by their employers. In all, 40 persons (all from the public sector) will receive long-term academic training, and 758 persons (338 of them from the public sector) will receive short-term training. Private sector development, vocational training development, and business management will be among the most favored training areas.
