ENGBERG, STEVE · 1980
Abstract
This final evaluation covers the period 2/1/79 to 1/31/80. It was prepared solely by the project manager. A new acoustic emission and receiving system was developed which is capable of screening out the unique noise of the shallow tropical coastal marine environment. Its effective range is 850 yards, suitable for studies of the reproductive habits of tropical marine fish such as the milkfish. The system will be tested on 20 to 25 large milkfish and mullet this summer in Hawaii. A final report will be submitted in September. Technical aspects of the project will be presented in several publications for both scientific and technical journals. This research activity was completed with a small amount of money, and is considered to be successful and worthwhile project.
