Abstract
The study aims to identify areas of opportunity in the community and provide responses to the needs of its inhabitants within the framework of the Proyecto "Comunidades en Acción, Libres de Violencia". The study's objective is to investigate the socio-economic situation, statistics on violence and delinquency, elements of prevention, and risk factors affecting the community. To achieve this, the study employed a participatory approach, involving the community in the process of data collection and analysis. The methodology used in the study is based on the concept of "metodología," which refers to the way in which problems are approached and solutions are sought. In the social sciences, methodology is applied to the way in which research is conducted. The study's researchers considered primary and secondary sources of information, with primary sources being original documents or writings that provide complete and detailed information on a particular topic. Primary sources are defined as documents that contain original information, not abridged or translated, such as books, articles, and official documents. These sources are considered to be of high value because they provide a firsthand account of the event or period being studied. Examples of primary sources include books, scientific and entertainment journals, newspapers, official documents, technical and research reports, patents, and encyclopedias. Secondary sources, on the other hand, are derived from primary sources and contain reworked or synthesized information. Examples of secondary sources include summaries, reference works, and statistical tables compiled from multiple sources. Secondary sources are considered to be of lower value than primary sources because they do not provide original information. The study's findings are based on a comprehensive analysis of the community's socio-economic situation, including its population, housing, poverty levels, economy, education, and health. The study also examined the community's infrastructure, including its transportation systems, communication networks, and waste management facilities. The study identified several areas of opportunity in the community, including the need for improved access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. The study also highlighted the importance of community participation and social cohesion in addressing the community's challenges. The study's conclusions emphasize the need for a comprehensive approach to addressing the community's needs, one that takes into account the community's unique characteristics and challenges. The study recommends the development of a community-led plan to address the community's needs, with the support of local and national authorities. The study's findings and recommendations are intended to inform the development of policies and programs aimed at improving the lives of the community's residents. The study's methodology and findings provide a valuable resource for policymakers, community leaders, and researchers seeking to understand the complex challenges facing the community of Garífuna de Corozal.
