2020 · 148 pages

Abstract
The training is intended for ECOWAS' Early Warning and Response Mechanism, including actors in the Member States, as well as stakeholders involved at various stages of early warning and response. The module aims to enhance the capacity of all stakeholders across the conflict prevention continuum, spanning from monitoring to response. The training manual provides insights and tools for including the perspectives of women, men, boys, and girls in data collection, analysis, and reporting. The module is designed to be completed before advancing to subsequent modules, which are specific to the work of early warning stakeholders such as field monitors, analysts, national centers, and responders. The module covers several key topics, including the importance of gender integration in early warning, the introduction of concepts for gender integration and early warning, and the gendered impacts across early warning thematic areas. The training also includes a sample agenda for Module Two, which focuses on gender integration for early warning data collection and reporting. The training emphasizes the value of inclusive and gender-sensitive early warning systems, which can help to identify and address the needs of vulnerable populations, including women and girls. The module also highlights the importance of using a gender lens in data collection and analysis, and provides tools and templates for integrating gender into early warning data collection practices. The training is designed to be flexible and adaptable, and can be adopted by various stakeholders, including the ECOWAS Gender Directorate, the Gender Development Center, training institutions, individuals, and organizations working in human security. The module is intended to be a foundational component of a broader training program, and can be used as a starting point for further training and capacity-building initiatives. The training manual assumes that participants have read the ECOWAS Gender Integration Manual, which provides a comprehensive framework for integrating gender into early warning and response mechanisms. The manual is intended to provide insights and tools for getting the perspectives of women, men, boys, and girls in data collection, analysis, and reporting. The module is divided into several sections, including an introduction to the module, a welcome and introduction, objectives and pre-workshop assessment, and a discussion of why gender integration is important for early warning. The training also includes a review of the concepts for gender integration and early warning, and a discussion of the gendered impacts across early warning thematic areas. Overall, the ECOWAS Gender Integration Training for All is a comprehensive and flexible training program that aims to enhance the capacity of stakeholders across the conflict prevention continuum. The module provides insights and tools for integrating gender into early warning and response mechanisms, and can be used as a foundational component of a broader training program.
