Abstract
The assessment aimed to evaluate the environmental impact of information technologies in the public prosecutor offices across Moldova. The evaluation was carried out by DAAC System Integrator, with funding from the American people through the US Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Rule of Law Institutional Strengthening Program (ROLISP). The assessment focused on the environmental impact of information technologies in 17 public prosecutor offices across Moldova. The offices evaluated included the Prosecutor General Office of the Republic of Moldova, as well as public prosecutor offices in various municipalities and districts. The assessment aimed to identify the environmental benefits and challenges associated with the implementation of information technologies in these offices. The evaluation revealed that the implementation of information technologies in the public prosecutor offices in Moldova has resulted in significant environmental benefits. The use of digital technologies has reduced the need for paper-based documentation, resulting in a decrease in paper waste. Additionally, the use of digital technologies has enabled the public prosecutor offices to reduce their energy consumption and carbon footprint. However, the assessment also identified several challenges associated with the implementation of information technologies in the public prosecutor offices in Moldova. The evaluation revealed that many of the offices lack the necessary infrastructure and resources to support the implementation of information technologies. Additionally, the assessment identified a lack of awareness and training among staff members on the use of information technologies, which has hindered the effective implementation of these technologies. The assessment made several recommendations for the representatives of prosecution bodies in Moldova. The recommendations included the development of a national strategy for the implementation of information technologies in the public prosecutor offices, as well as the provision of training and resources to support the effective implementation of these technologies. The assessment also recommended the establishment of a national database to track the implementation of information technologies in the public prosecutor offices across Moldova. The evaluation of the environmental impact of information technologies in the public prosecutor offices in Moldova has provided valuable insights into the benefits and challenges associated with the implementation of these technologies. The assessment has highlighted the need for a national strategy to support the effective implementation of information technologies in the public prosecutor offices, as well as the provision of training and resources to support staff members in the use of these technologies.
