USAID. MISSION TO HONDURAS
Presents final Mission report (9/28/80-9/28/82) on a project to assist the Honduran Ecological Association (AHE) to promote environmental education, conservation, and the rational use of natural resources and to create public awareness of the need for environmental protection.

Abstract
The project achieved its objectives. Some 200 photographs of the environment were taken and exhibited at AHE headquarters; four slide programs utilizing over 1,000 slides were presented to public groups and institutions; three video tape programs were completed; and a 30-second TV spot was presented more than 30 times during prime time. In addition, AHE printed and distributed 2,100 posters, pamphlet guides, and bumperstickers and 3,150 bulletins describing its goals and objectives (vs. targets of 2,000 and 3,500, respectively). AHE met its objective of increasing its membership by 200 over the life of the grant and successfully raised some $1,000 in contributions. Any future A.I.D. project with AHE should support the services of a full-time director and secretary. The importance of strong leadership and direction cannot be overemphasized; this project was almost brought to a halt by leadership problems and personality conflicts within AHE. AHE's Phase II OPG proposal has been well prepared and the Mission hopes that funding will be forthcoming.
