Sign inUSAID. MISSION TO HONDURAS
Presents final Mission report on a grant (5/88-2/91) to the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) to provide orthopedic and plastic/reconstructive surgery to victims of Central American civil strife.

Abstract
While it was planned that PADF would set up a surgical care facility in Nicaragua, this was forbidden by the Nicaraguan government, so grant activities were switched to Honduras. A total of 882 persons were treated by PADF, vs. 756 targeted. An unplanned output was improved surgical facilities at a local nonprofit hospital in Honduras, which allowed PADF to use its facilities during the project. Because the project ran so smoothly, the primary lesson is that well-selected grantees offer the greatest potential for success in projects of this nature.
