The Feed the Future Tanzania Land Tenure Assistance (LTA) program is a USAID-funded initiative aimed at improving land tenure security for smallholder farmers in Tanzania.

Abstract
The program began in 2012 and is implemented by DAI. The LTA program focuses on five districts in Tanzania, including Mbeya and Iringa. In November 2019, the LTA program conducted a close-down meeting of implementation activities in five villages in Mbeya District. The meeting aimed to review progress and discuss challenges faced by the program. The program has been working with various stakeholders, including the Government of Tanzania, local authorities, and community representatives. The LTA program has made significant progress in implementing land tenure activities in the target villages. In Mbeya, the program has completed village land use plans and detailed village settlement plans for 15 villages. In Iringa, the program has completed village land use plans and detailed village settlement plans for 10 villages. The program has also conducted parcel mapping and CCRO printing in several villages. The LTA program has also made progress in integrating cross-cutting issues and USAID forward priorities. The program has conducted training sessions on gender and youth, and has implemented activities to promote women's and youth's participation in land tenure activities. The program has also worked with pastoralists to improve their access to land and resources. Despite the progress made, the LTA program has faced implementation challenges. The program has encountered difficulties in engaging local authorities and community representatives in the land tenure process. The program has also faced challenges in resolving disputes related to land ownership and use. The LTA program has made significant progress in implementing land tenure activities in the target villages. The program has completed village land use plans and detailed village settlement plans for several villages, and has conducted parcel mapping and CCRO printing in several villages. The program has also made progress in integrating cross-cutting issues and USAID forward priorities. The LTA program has a strong focus on stakeholder participation and engagement. The program has worked closely with local authorities, community representatives, and other stakeholders to ensure that land tenure activities are tailored to the needs of the local community. The program has also established a technical register under social tenure (TRUST) to facilitate the registration of land rights. The LTA program has a robust monitoring and evaluation system in place to track progress and identify challenges. The program uses activity trackers and CCRO trackers to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement. The program also conducts regular meetings and workshops to review progress and discuss challenges.
