Abstract
The project aimed to improve the efficiency of dairy production and increase the income of dairy farmers. The activity was conducted by the Lviv Regional Union of Agriculture Servicing Cooperatives "Rivnopravnist" with funding from the USAID Ukraine AgroInvest project. The project focused on establishing milk collection points and expanding pasture-based dairying. The milk collection points were designed to improve the efficiency of milk collection and transportation, reducing the costs associated with this process. The pasture-based dairying component aimed to increase the productivity of dairy cows by providing farmers with access to high-quality pastures. This approach also helped to reduce the environmental impact of dairy farming. The project targeted dairy farmers in the Lviv Region, with a focus on small-scale farmers who were struggling to maintain their dairy operations. The project provided training and technical assistance to farmers on best practices in dairy production, including pasture management, feeding, and milking, as well as business management and marketing. The project also provided farmers with access to high-quality pastures, which helped to improve the productivity of their dairy cows. The project achieved significant results, including a 25% increase in milk production among participating farmers. The project also helped to improve the income of dairy farmers, with participating farmers reporting an average increase of 30% in their income. The project also helped to improve the efficiency of milk collection and transportation, reducing the costs associated with this process. The project was implemented from August 2015 to August 2016, with a total budget of $250,000. The project was funded by the USAID Ukraine AgroInvest project, which is implemented by Chemonics International under Contract Number AID-121-C-00001. The project was successful in achieving its objectives and improving the efficiency and productivity of dairy production in the Lviv Region.
