Abstract
The mechanism worked closely with the USAID Washington-DC based PSE Hub, missions, and bureaus to develop and strengthen systems for engagement with the private sector. Key achievements include the launch of the Building PSE Capacity site and the kickoff of the Mission Capacity Index (MCI). The mechanism also developed the Front Door Concierge platform and secured Administrator Power's approval for the Agency-wide CRM system. PSE Support helped USAID bureaus and missions deepen and expand private sector engagement through various buy-ins. The activity supported missions and bureaus to carry out research and Landscape Assessments, develop PSE working groups, create PSE strategic plans, and coordinate PSE learning gatherings. The PSE team provided communications, monitoring, and evaluation support to the hub. The mechanism expanded the application of PSE principles across sectors, including the humanitarian space. PSE Support helped the Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) establish frameworks for improved private sector engagement by forming a working group, completing a landscape assessment, developing a Blended Finance primer, and coordinating an implementation plan and learning gatherings. The team also demonstrated how blended finance can support the education sector in the Middle East and worked with the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region on the use of PSE in public procurement. PSE Support provided strategic support to the Hub's MEL and Communications, and GenDev's women economic empowerment efforts. With a solid foundation established, the mechanism commenced handing over in August 2022, providing a comprehensive handing over that included strategic guidance and tools for the hub, missions, and bureaus to continue advancing PSE across the agency. The PSE Support project officially kicked off on September 10, 2019, and worked closely with the USAID Washington-DC based PSE Hub, missions, and bureaus to build capacity for increased private sector engagement.
