Abstract
The goal of FA.gov is to provide stakeholders with access to U.S. Government foreign assistance funding information in a transparent and easily understandable format. This website enables users to examine, research, and track U.S. Government foreign assistance investments. FA.gov allows users to search and visualize information about U.S. Government foreign assistance investments, including what, where, how, and with whom USAID spends development dollars. The website contains data on appropriation, obligation, and disbursement for FY 2009 – FY 2012, as well as transaction-level data for FY 2013 – present. The data are available for download in XML format, adhering to the International Aid Transparency Initiative's (IATI) common data standard. The U.S. Government is committed to making foreign assistance more effective and increasing international accountability. By making data available in an easily readable format, the U.S. Government demonstrates its commitment to transparency, as outlined in Executive Order 13642. Publishing data on FA.gov also fulfills the U.S. Government's IATI Implementation Plan, which was established to meet commitments made at the Fourth High-Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in Busan in November 2011. FA.gov provides access to data for a wide range of stakeholders, including members of the public, Congress, citizens in partner countries, other development partners, USAID implementing partners, and other USAID stakeholders. The website allows users to view aggregate data by country or sector and filter data by country, sector, fiscal year, agency, and implementing organization. The data include over 30 fields, consistent with the Office of Management and Budget's Bulletin 12-01. The data on FA.gov are updated quarterly, reflecting the U.S. Government's commitment to transparency and accountability. The website is maintained by the Bureau for Policy, Planning, and Learning, with support from the Office of Donor Engagement and the Office of Performance. Users can contact the FA.gov team at [email protected] for further information.
