Abstract
The activity's initial focus was on registration and setting up an office in Juba, followed by staff recruitment within a six-month period. This included establishing procurement, financial, and logistical processes. Field offices were subsequently opened in Akobo, Leer, and Wau, with field staff deployed to these locations. Throughout the year, Shejeh Salam achieved contractual deliverables, including the year one annual work plan, baseline, and Gender, Youth and Social Inclusion Analysis (GYSIA) reports. Quality assurance and monitoring plans, three quarterly reports, a Rolling Assessment (RA), and two Strategic Review Sessions (SRS) were also completed. The activity began planning for year two in the latest reporting period. Grant implementation commenced in quarter two with peace conference projects in Jonglei (JON001) and Western Equatoria (ROV001). Subsequent projects were implemented from the National office to support civil society organizations (NAT001 and NAT002). Programming accelerated with each quarter, resulting in 28 cleared grants and $1,211,090 of committed funds for grants activities. Shejeh Salam has reached 12 of the US Agency for International Development's (USAID) objectives. The activity's geographic focus is primarily in Juba, with field offices in Akobo, Leer, and Wau. The timeframes for the activity span from September 2020 to October 1, 2025. The activity's implementation is guided by a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Plan (MELP), which includes indicators for performance tracking. Shejeh Salam has established partnerships with various stakeholders, including civil society organizations and implementing partners. The activity has also implemented measures to ensure conflict sensitivity, gender equity, and social inclusion. Capacity building and sustainability are key components of the activity, with a focus on building the capacity of local organizations and promoting long-term sustainability. The activity's financial report indicates that $1,211,090 of committed funds have been allocated for grants activities. The activity has also implemented measures to ensure environmental compliance and has taken steps to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Shejeh Salam's progress has been monitored and evaluated through regular reporting and assessments. The activity has achieved significant milestones, including the completion of contractual deliverables and the implementation of grant projects. However, challenges have been encountered, including the need to adapt to changing circumstances and ensure the sustainability of the activity's impact. The activity's way forward includes continued implementation of grant projects, capacity building, and sustainability initiatives. Shejeh Salam will also continue to monitor and evaluate its progress, making adjustments as necessary to ensure the activity's objectives are met.
