Abstract
The project has partnered with public agencies, communities, companies, communities, companies, and civil society organizations to achieve this goal. Key findings and conclusions include: - Public awareness on natural infrastructure has increased, with millions of people reached through traditional and social media, and over 40,000 people through in-person dissemination events. - Strategic communications have disseminated NIWS' tools and knowledge, leveraging high-profile moments to advance action on natural infrastructure and water security. - Important strides have been made in addressing institutional factors in water and natural infrastructure governance, including mainstreaming gender in Peru's main governance institutions. - Women leaders and a new generation of researchers have been strengthened through NIWS-supported projects. - The project has mobilized new financing from water utilities for watershed investments, and finalized technical studies to mobilize USD 30 million more in investments. Implementation of the project has been affected by the new administration's instability, with 40 changes in the cabinet in just 13 months. Despite this, the project has continued to make progress toward its objectives. The project has also reached important milestones in addressing inequality in water and natural infrastructure governance, including through strengthening women leaders and a new generation of researchers working on natural infrastructure. The project's focus on natural infrastructure has been a key strategy for achieving climate action and water security in Peru. The project has also been working to enhance capacities for planning, developing, and communicating on natural infrastructure investments. The project has been working to create change in Peru's watersheds through NIWS-supported projects, with the most advanced of which are in implementation in 5 regions. The project continues to mobilize new financing and finalize technical studies to mobilize USD 30 million more in investments. The project's efforts have been focused on creating a "scaffolding for scale" to support the scaling-up of natural infrastructure investments in Peru. This scaffolding includes public awareness, strategic communications, and institutional factors in water and natural infrastructure governance. The project has also been working to strengthen women leaders and a new generation of researchers working on natural infrastructure. This has been an important step in addressing inequality in water and natural infrastructure governance.
