Abstract
This objective will be achieved through three core strategies. Providing demand-driven solutions is the first strategy, which involves working with programs and missions to identify opportunities where mobile solutions can add value. This process involves understanding the activities of the programs and missions, making them aware of the potential benefits of mobile solutions, and sourcing the required software, hardware, or applications. To implement this strategy, it is essential to finalize the communication plan, which will help raise awareness among the target audience about the potential of m4d solutions and provide a clear understanding of what can be offered to missions once opportunities have been identified. A key aspect of the demand-driven solutions strategy is collaborating with NetHope members, who have the capability to design mobile solutions tailored to local needs. This partnership will enable the GBI program to connect missions with the right people in NetHope, providing them with best-practice information and lessons learned from past experiences in the area. This approach will facilitate the creation of effective mobile solutions that address the specific needs of the target communities. Building local capacity is the second core strategy, which focuses on strengthening the local mobile application developer industry. This approach will leverage local knowledge to create applications tailored to local needs, create jobs and opportunities for local entrepreneurs, and boost the local economy through the sourcing of apps and their use. By supporting the growth of the local mobile application developer industry, the GBI program aims to create a sustainable ecosystem that can provide mobile solutions that are tailored to the specific needs of the target communities. Providing supply-driven solutions is the third core strategy, which involves keeping a close eye on the cutting-edge innovations in the developed world. This approach recognizes that new mobile technologies and innovations may emerge in the developed world, which can be adapted and applied to address specific development challenges. To implement this strategy, the GBI program will maintain close relationships with technology firms, such as the One App idea being pursued by Darrell, to stay informed about new mobile technologies and their potential applications in the development context.
