Abstract
The OIM is committed to the principle that orderly and humane migration benefits both migrants and society. The Programa de Reintegración de Excombatientes con Enfoque Comunitario (CORE) is a project implemented by the OIM in Colombia, with the goal of reintegrating ex-combatants into their communities. The project focuses on generating employment and promoting peace through community-based initiatives. The CORE program is led by Marcelo Pisani Codoceo, Jefe de Misión, and Camilo Potes Sabogal, Coordinador Programa CORE. The project's methodology involves a participatory approach, engaging local communities and stakeholders in the design and implementation of the program. The CORE program has achieved significant results, including the creation of employment opportunities for 143 individuals in the process of reintegración, located in the departments of Quindío and Risaralda. The program has also established partnerships with local businesses, resulting in the generation of 150 jobs. The project's success can be attributed to its community-based approach, which has enabled the participation of local stakeholders and the creation of employment opportunities that are tailored to the needs of the community. The CORE program has also established a model for the management of labor for vulnerable populations, which can be replicated in other contexts. The project's results have been documented in a report, which provides a detailed account of the project's methodology, results, and lessons learned. The report includes recommendations for the optimization of the identification of employment opportunities, the use of effective strategies for the engagement of local businesses, and the creation of a follow-up process to ensure the sustainability of the project's results. The report also highlights the importance of the participation of local stakeholders in the design and implementation of the project, as well as the need for a comprehensive approach that addresses the social, economic, and environmental challenges faced by the community. The CORE program has demonstrated the potential of community-based initiatives to promote peace and employment in post-conflict contexts, and its results can serve as a model for future projects in this area.
