Abstract
A PAHEF consultant, assigned to and supervised by the Peruvian office of PAHO, will work with the MOH senior personnel to: (1) define the objectives, targets, and intervention strategies of the CCD Program and establish it as fully operational; (2) prepare, implement, and evaluate CCD workplans on a quarterly basis; (3) help establish a quality control program for oral rehydration salts; (4) design a comprehensive oral rehydration therapy (ORT) strategy and establish ORT training centers for health personnel in the main hospitals, along with operational ORT units in hospitals, health centers. and other facilities; (5) develop specialized ORT training materials for community health personnel; (6) act as trainer in courses rented to the CCD Program; and (7) develop, on the basis of a simplified information system, a supervisory and monitoring system for the Program. The consultant will also serve as a liaison between USAID/P and the CCD Program by helping define specific scopes of work for and support the in-country efforts of A.I.D.-financed short-term consultants and by providing, according to need, short-term TA in such areas as material design and communication research.
