Abstract
This separation is crucial to prevent the spread of diseases and contamination. The surrounding environment should be conducive to maintaining a clean and hygienic atmosphere. Proper sanitation and hygiene practices are essential in the hatchery. Visitors and workers must wear protective clothing and footwear to prevent the introduction of external contaminants. The hatchery should be well-ventilated, with designated areas for specific activities such as fumigation, incubation, and disinfection. Egg fumigation is a critical step in the process. All eggs must be treated with a fumigant before incubation to eliminate any potential pathogens. The fumigation process should be carried out in a well-ventilated area, with adequate equipment and personnel trained in the procedure. The transportation of day-old chicks (DOCs) requires careful planning and execution. DOCs should be packed into disposable boxes, with a maximum of 52 chicks per box. The boxes should be stored in a cool, well-ventilated area before transportation to prevent overheating and stress on the chicks. The use of specialized vehicles for transporting DOCs is highly recommended. These vehicles are designed to maintain a stable temperature and humidity level, reducing the risk of chick mortality and stress during transit. By following these guidelines, the transportation of DOCs can be made safer and more efficient, resulting in healthier chicks and a higher price premium for farmers.
