Abstract
The purpose of the tool is to provide guidance on the management of patients with HIV/AIDS who are on antiretroviral therapy (ART) and have been exposed to or are infected with hepatitis B virus (HBV). The tool is divided into several sections, each addressing a specific aspect of managing patients with HIV/AIDS and HBV co-infection. Section 1 focuses on the assessment of patients with HIV/AIDS who are on ART and have been exposed to or are infected with HBV. The tool provides guidance on the management of patients with HIV/AIDS who are on ART and have been exposed to HBV, including the use of antiviral therapy to prevent HBV reactivation. Section 2 addresses the management of patients with HIV/AIDS who are on ART and have been infected with HBV. The tool provides guidance on the use of antiviral therapy to treat HBV infection in patients with HIV/AIDS who are on ART. Section 3 focuses on the management of patients with HIV/AIDS who are on ART and have been exposed to HBV through vertical transmission. The tool provides guidance on the management of patients with HIV/AIDS who are on ART and have been exposed to HBV through vertical transmission, including the use of antiviral therapy to prevent HBV reactivation. Section 4 addresses the management of patients with HIV/AIDS who are on ART and have been exposed to HBV through horizontal transmission. The tool provides guidance on the management of patients with HIV/AIDS who are on ART and have been exposed to HBV through horizontal transmission, including the use of antiviral therapy to prevent HBV reactivation. Section 5 focuses on the management of patients with HIV/AIDS who are on ART and have been exposed to HBV through blood transfusion. The tool provides guidance on the management of patients with HIV/AIDS who are on ART and have been exposed to HBV through blood transfusion, including the use of antiviral therapy to prevent HBV reactivation. Section 6 addresses the management of patients with HIV/AIDS who are on ART and have been exposed to HBV through medical procedures. The tool provides guidance on the management of patients with HIV/AIDS who are on ART and have been exposed to HBV through medical procedures, including the use of antiviral therapy to prevent HBV reactivation. Section 7 focuses on the management of patients with HIV/AIDS who are on ART and have been exposed to HBV through sexual transmission. The tool provides guidance on the management of patients with HIV/AIDS who are on ART and have been exposed to HBV through sexual transmission, including the use of antiviral therapy to prevent HBV reactivation.
