Abstract
The program aims to promote healthy behaviors and provide children with essential knowledge about maintaining good physical, mental, and emotional health. The program begins with an introduction, where children are divided into two groups and asked to brainstorm words that define a healthy person and an unhealthy person. The groups are instructed to consider all aspects of health, including physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Each group is given five to ten minutes to come up with a list of words, which they are not allowed to share with the other group. After the brainstorming session, the groups are asked to role-play the characteristics of a healthy or unhealthy person. One group selects a word from their list and acts it out for the other group, who then tries to guess the word. The groups continue to role-play until each group has acted out five of their selected words. Following the role-playing activity, the groups come together to discuss their findings. They are asked to think of additional words that can describe a healthy person and an unhealthy person. The facilitator provides a list of words that can be used to supplement the children's responses. The discussion also focuses on the importance of maintaining a healthy diet. Children are encouraged to eat a varied and iron-rich diet, with at least three meals a day. They are also reminded to seek medical attention if they are sick, especially if they have malaria, and to get tested and treated quickly. The program concludes with a commitment from the children to maintain a healthy diet. Each child is asked to share one thing they will do to try to maintain a healthy diet. The characteristics of a healthy person and an unhealthy person are also listed, including words such as "plays with others," "concentrates in class," "strong," "weak," "vomiting," "high body temperature," "feels dizzy," "looks pale," and "complains of pain." The program aims to empower children with knowledge and skills to maintain their physical, mental, and emotional health. By promoting healthy behaviors and providing essential information about nutrition and health, Save the Children's Healthy and Unhealthy Role Play program can have a positive impact on the health and well-being of children.
