Abstract
The study suggests that IOS-enabled business intelligence first impacts information exchange, coordination, and integration capabilities, which subsequently enhance supply chain responsiveness and supply chain performance. A research model examining the proposed relationships was developed and tested using data from retail organizations operating in an emerging African country. The study found that IOS-enabled business intelligence allowed firms to obtain information exchange, coordination, and integration capabilities. Supply chain capabilities, with the exception of integration capabilities, directly enhanced supply chain performance. Supply chain responsiveness partially mediated the relationship between information exchange capabilities and supply chain performance and fully mediated the relationship between integration capabilities and supply chain performance. The study draws on various theoretical frameworks, including the resource-based view of the firm, to understand the mechanisms through which IOS-enabled business intelligence enhances supply chain performance. The findings suggest that IOS-enabled business intelligence can improve supply chain performance by enhancing information exchange, coordination, and integration capabilities. The study also highlights the importance of supply chain responsiveness in mediating the relationship between information exchange capabilities and supply chain performance. This suggests that organizations that are able to respond quickly to changes in the market and supply chain can improve their supply chain performance. The research model used in the study was developed based on a review of existing literature on IOS-enabled business intelligence and supply chain performance. The model was tested using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) with data from retail organizations operating in an emerging African country. The study contributes to the existing literature on IOS-enabled business intelligence and supply chain performance by providing insights into the mechanisms through which IOS-enabled business intelligence enhances supply chain performance. The findings suggest that IOS-enabled business intelligence can improve supply chain performance by enhancing information exchange, coordination, and integration capabilities. The study's findings have implications for organizations seeking to improve their supply chain performance. By implementing IOS-enabled business intelligence, organizations can enhance their information exchange, coordination, and integration capabilities, which can lead to improved supply chain responsiveness and performance.
