Abstract
The FACET project offers on-demand field support to help USAID missions address the challenges of implementing these interventions. The eServices Everywhere (ESE) Agri-Suite is a suite of applications offered by SourceTrace for companies and organizations working with large numbers of smallholder farmers. The platform enables field agents to register farmers, capture data on farm, farmer, crop, and harvest information, and track transactions. The data capture can be done in either online or offline mode. The ESE Agri-Suite also offers a certification app for Android phones that enables field agents to conduct certification assessments for major international certifications and custom internal certifications. The platform aggregates all the data, enabling managers to track agricultural shipment transactions and input distributions in real-time and geo-located using mapping software. SourceTrace Systems was founded in 2006 and has received funding from various social venture capitalists. The company operates on a software as a service (SaaS) model, with pricing primarily targeting enterprise users. The ESE Agri-Suite is currently operating in Africa, South Asia, and Latin America, with a target of reaching one million farmers by the end of 2015. The ESE Agri-Suite is expected to improve the efficiency of the agricultural value chain, particularly as it relates to smallholder farmers, through improved transparency and accuracy of transactions. The platform is primarily targeted for use by field agents and their managers at larger commodity buyers and cooperatives.
