Abstract
The project was initiated in 2011 with funding from USAID's Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance. The primary objective of the project was to provide humanitarian responders with effective methods for reliably capturing, reporting, sharing, and analyzing information concerning the humanitarian situation in Pakistan. The project focuses on Sindh-based humanitarian, early recovery, reconstruction, rehabilitation, development, and disaster risk reduction partners. It seeks to provide reliable information management tools and systems to support disaster management in Pakistan. The project has undergone significant developments, including the launch of OASISWeb, a data sharing and information management tool, and the completion of Pakistan Emergency Situation Analysis (PESA) district profiles for Sindh. iMMAP has established a strong working relationship with Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority, NED University of Engineering and Technology, and the Directorate of Social Welfare and Special Education Balochistan. The organization has also engaged consultants to collect data and information for the compilation of district profiles and the finalization of information management tools. The project has made significant progress in the fourth quarter of 2013, including the launch of OASISWeb, the completion of PESA district profiles, and the launch of the Daily Emergency & Response Situational Information Report online portal. iMMAP has also undergone discussions with NED University on the transfer of information management tools and has obtained approval for a mutually agreed upon draft Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the Vice Chancellor level. The project has also identified new products and opportunities that would benefit the wider humanitarian community, including United Nations agencies, international and national non-governmental organizations. iMMAP has engaged consultants to collect data and information for the compilation of district profiles and the finalization of information management tools. The project's progress is monitored and evaluated through the Project Monitoring and Evaluation Plan (PMEP), which outlines the project's objectives, components, and indicators. The PMEP indicators are used to track progress against targets, and the baseline figures illustrate the status of progress against indicators since the transition of the project to USAID Mission Pakistan in April 2011. The project has achieved significant milestones, including the establishment of information management capacity in seven disaster management authorities, the transition of standardized information management tools, and the integration of complementary information management systems and databases. The project has also identified baseline datasets, information sources, and protocols for sharing, and has implemented information management structures and systems in seven disaster management authorities. The project's progress is expected to continue in the coming quarters, with a focus on finalizing the transfer of information management tools to NED University and the Balochistan Social Welfare and Special Education Directorate. The project also seeks to request an extension to the COP-DM project to conclude the project successfully, taking into account the developments mentioned above.
