Abstract
The project was implemented in the provinces of Cabo Delgado, Niassa, and Nampula, where literacy rates were significantly lower than the national average. The project's objectives included increasing the number of individuals with basic literacy and numeracy skills, improving the quality of education, and enhancing the capacity of local education authorities. The project's inception report outlined the project's design, methodology, and expected outcomes. The report identified key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education and Human Development, local education authorities, and community-based organizations. The project's implementation plan included the establishment of literacy centers, training of teachers, and the development of educational materials. The baseline report provided an overview of the project's target population, including demographic characteristics, educational background, and literacy levels. The report highlighted the need for improved literacy and numeracy skills among the target population, with only 12% of out-of-school youth and adults having basic literacy skills. The report also identified key challenges, including limited access to education, inadequate infrastructure, and inadequate teacher training. The midline 1 report presented the project's progress after the first 18 months of implementation. The report highlighted the establishment of 120 literacy centers, training of 300 teachers, and the development of educational materials. The report also presented the results of a midline survey, which showed a 25% increase in the number of individuals with basic literacy skills among the target population. The report identified key challenges, including limited access to education, inadequate infrastructure, and inadequate teacher training.
