Abstract
EGRA activities take place under Task Order 3, EHC-E-03-04-00004-00, while EGMA is being developed under Task Order 2, EHC-E-02-04-00004-00. These assessments are designed to provide information on student attainment of foundational skills that are predictive of later achievement. An educational system consists of several elements, including national standards, curriculum, and school-level implementation. Effective implementation of national mandates requires connection and support at the school level. Classroom and teacher-level factors, such as teacher preparation and in-service professional development, also play a crucial role. Opportunities to learn at the student level are essential for academic success. Assessment can play a vital role in identifying areas where instruction has been missing or is not robust enough. EGRA and EGMA are designed to be quick to administer and score, providing useful information on student attainment. This information can be used to plan instruction and teacher professional development, ultimately leading to improved academic outcomes. The data collected through EGRA and EGMA can serve as a baseline for identifying needs and making systematic changes. By using these measures to identify gaps in instruction, educators can target areas for improvement and develop more effective teaching strategies. This, in turn, can lead to increased student success and reduced retention rates. The assessments can also inform teacher professional development, enabling educators to better support their students' learning needs. By providing a comprehensive picture of student attainment, EGRA and EGMA can help educators make data-driven decisions and develop targeted interventions to address specific areas of need. This can ultimately lead to improved academic outcomes and increased student success.
